1996 Mitsui Toatsu Chemicals and Nippon Petrochemicals carry out stock exchange with Senboku Polymer and Ukishima Polypro.
October 1st Mitsui Petrochemical Industries and Mitsui Toatsu Chemicals sign memorandum regarding consolidation.
Mitsui Petrochemical Industries, Ltd. and Sumitomo Chemical Industries. Ltd. establish Evolue Japan Co., Ltd. to produce metallocene catalyst linear low-density polyethylene.
1995 Sun Alloys, a resin compound company, commences commercial operation at Sodegaura, Chiba.
1994 Shanghai Mitsui Plastic Compounds Co., Ltd. established.
1990 Life Science Laboratory established in Mobara, Chiba.
Mitsui Petrochemical Industries. Ltd. and Idemitsu form a joint venture company, Chiba Phenol Co., Ltd.

1985 Mitsui Toatsu Chemicals and Nippon Soda separates PPG of Mitsui Ni-Soda Urethane Chiba, and establishes Chiba Polyol.
1984 Take over low-density polyethylene business from Mitsui Polychemicals.
Mitsui Polychemicals renamed DuPont- Mitsui Polychemicals.
Mitsui Fluorochemical renamed DuPont-Mitsui Fluorochemicals.
Mitsui Petrochemical Industries, Ltd. establishes Nippon Alkyl Phenol with Ciba-Geigy.
1983 Bioengineering Research Institute established in Iwakuni-Ohtake.
Mitsui Petrochemical Industries, Ltd., Mitsui Toatsu Chemicals, Inc., Nippon Petrochemicals, and Mitsui Polychemicals, Co., Ltd. together form Mitsui Nisseki Polymer Co.
1980 Construction resumed on Mitsui Group petrochemical project IJPC in Iran.
1978 Mitsui Nisso Urethane merges with Mitsui Toatsu Chemicals.
1977 Mitsui Toatsu Chemicals, Inc. and Nippon Petrochemicals establish Senboku Polymer to produce polypropylene.
1976 Mitsui Toatsu Chemicals, Inc. and Mitsui & Co., Ltd. establish Mitsui Toatsu Fine Chemicals, Inc. to market fire-retardant, specialty resin raw materials, and agrochemical intermediates.
1975 Mitsui Petrochemical Industries establish Mitsui Petrochemical Epoxy following Kanebo and Mitsui & Co., Ltd.’s withdrawal from Mitsui Kanebo Epoxy.
1974 Mitsui Toatsu Chemicals, Inc. Nippon Soda, and Mitsui & Co., Ltd. integrate marketing divisions for urethane raw material to establish Mitsui Nisso Urethane.
Mitsui Toatsu Chemicals, Inc. takes over Mitsui Senboku Petrochemicals.
1973 Mitsui Petrochemical Industries, Ltd., Mitsui Toatsu Chemicals, Inc., and Mitsui & Co., Ltd. establish Daiichi Kagaku Kogyo in Korea.
1973 Completion of Ofuna Research Center.
1972 Japan’s largest phosphoric acid plant starts commercial operations in Shimonoseki.
1971 Mitsui Toatsu Chemicals, Inc. establishes Toyo Rinsan.
Mitsui Toatsu Chemicals, Inc. establishes Mitsui Seiyaku Kogyo.
1968 Mitsui Senboku Petrochemicals established.
