Mitsui Petrochemical Industries, Ltd. and Nippon Petrochemicals form Ukishima Petrochemicals.
1966 First use by chemical industry of IBM1800 computer to control process at ammonia and urea plant in Osaka.
Computer also introduced to ethylene plant in Osaka, the second following NASA.
1965 Osaka Petrochemicals established.
1964 Ground-breaking ceremony for Osaka Works.
Mitsui Chemical Industry establishes Kawasaki Works for PPG production.
1963 Mitsui Petrochemical Industries complete manufacturing facilities for methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK) at Iwakuni-Ohtake Works.
1962 Mitsui Chemical Industry merge with Miike Synthesis Industries.
Japan’s first polypropylene plant starts operations at Iwakuni-Ohtake Works.
Mitsui Polychemicals produces low-density polyethylene at Iwakuni-Ohtake Works.
Nagoya Works begins operations of polypropylene glycol facility.

1960 Toyo Koatsu Industries opens New York representative office.

DuPont and Mitsui Chemicals form Mitsui Polychemicals (currently DuPont- Mitsui Polychemicals).
1958 Chiba Works starts production of methanol.
