President's Message

The unprecedented Great Eastern Japan Earthquake of March 11, 2011 left behind unimaginable tragedy. Massive tsunami hit coastal areas leaving thousands dead or missing and causing serious damage to nuclear power plants. Although there are no words to comfort those affected by this disaster, on behalf of the Mitsui Chemicals Group, I would like to extend heartfelt condolences to all persons who lost loved ones and who were affected by this disaster.

To assist Japan's recovery from this national crisis, the Mitsui Chemicals Group will reserve no effort in supporting rebuilding efforts and aiding victims. While intensifying voluntary power-saving to conserve energy which is in serious shortage, through our manufacturing activities we will provide essential supplies to those in disaster areas as our ongoing effort to contribute to society.

2011 is the initial year of Mitsui Chemicals' new Mid-Term Business Plan which was announced last year. Although the new fiscal year was marked by an unprecedented catastrophe, we are determined to unify and make every effort to achieve the management targets set out in our 2011 Mid-Term Business Plan. We look forward to the continued support and understanding of our stakeholders.
