Here at Mitsui Chemicals we make every effort to reduce the environmental impact of both air pollutants, such as nitrogen oxide (NOx) and sulfur oxide (SOx), and water pollutants, such as chemical oxygen demand (COD), nitrogen and phosphorous. Our emissions are currently far lower than legislative and regulatory standards for all of these substances.
In fiscal 2011, we increased operating rates at each of our works compared to the previous year, resulting in a slight increase in the majority of emissions. Having worked hard on initiatives such as reducing fuel consumption however, we were successful in reducing SOx, soot and dust emissions.
