Phenol resins which use phenyl as a raw material are widely used in plywood, circuit boards, adhesives, thermal insulation materials, and heat resistant engineered plastics. Polycarbonate resins and epoxy resins are made using bisphenol A synthesized from phenol and acetone as a raw material. Polycarbonates are strong transparent plastics with excellent heat resistance and whether resistance, and in addition to optical disks, are used in a variety of fields such as electronic devices, automotive components, and construction materials, similar to phenol resins.
