Mitsui Chemicals' Resin Development Technology Has Evolved with the Growth in PET Bottles for Hot Beverages.
The PTA/PET Business Sector provides raw materials for polyester fiber, polyester film, food containers, and containers for detergents, cosmetics, and medicines, as well as sheet materials.
In addition, this business sector also manufactures and markets to container manufacturers the PET resin that is a raw material of PET bottles mainly for soft drinks. Especially, Mitsui Chemicals' resin technology has supported the needs for high heat resistance of bottle in order to allow high temperature filling for sterilization. PET bottles which have white drinking mouth are applied to hot filling system and our technology meets this application. Hot filling system is suitable for beverages such as teas and isotonic drinks. Currently, Mitsui Chemicals' PET resin accounts for approximately 40% of PET bottles for hot filling application in Japan.
