Mitsui Chemicals Catalysis Science Award

Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. has established the "Mitsui Chemicals Catalysis Science Award" since 2004 with the aim of contributing to the sustainable development of chemistry and the chemical industry. In particular, this award is designed to recognize researchers who have made outstanding achievements in catalysis science.
Those eligible for the "Mitsui Chemicals Catalysis Science Award" and the "Mitsui Chemicals Catalysis Science Award of Encouragement" are researchers belonging to institutions of higher learning or public research institutes, who are aged forty-five (45) years or younger and thirty-five (35) years or younger, respectively, and pursuing catalysis science research involving polymerization catalysts, fine synthesis catalysts or other catalysts contributing to environmental protection.
Entries for the "2009 Mitsui Chemicals Catalysis Science Award" and the "2009 Mitsui Chemicals Catalysis Science Award of Encouragement" will be accepted from May 2008 and the winners will be announced in the newspapers, in journals and on our website in January 2009. The guidelines for the application are as follows:
"Mitsui Chemicals Catalysis Science Award"
The "Mitsui Chemicals Catalysis Science Award," consisting of a commemorative plaque and a cash prize of five (5) million yen, is given every other year to up to one researcher (aged forty-five (45) years or younger at the date of April 1, 2008) with the best achievements.
"Mitsui Chemicals Catalysis Science Award of Encouragement"
The "Mitsui Chemicals Catalysis Science Award of Encouragement," consisting of a commemorative plaque and a cash prize of one (1) million yen, is given every other year to up to two researchers (aged thirty-five (35) years or younger at the date of April 1, 2008) with the most original achievements.
Selection Method / Schedule
The winners will be selected by the selection committee organized by Mitsui Chemicals, Inc., to consist of several world-class academic experts in catalysis science and a representative of Mitsui Chemicals.

- The Award Ceremony will be held during "The Fourth Mitsui Chemicals International Symposium on Catalysis Science (MICS2009)".
- The winners of the "Mitsui Chemicals Catalysis Science Award" and the "Mitsui Chemicals Catalysis Science Award of Encouragement" will be requested to deliver commemorative lectures at "The Third Mitsui Chemicals International Symposium on Catalysis Science (MICS2009)".
The travel expenses including accommodation charges to the Symposium will be paid.

Directions
Any individual may nominate or support only one nominee during any given award year. Complete all fields of the nomination form in English. Any language except English is not acceptable.
Applications can only be accepted if sent by mail. When sending, reprints (the copies are acceptable) of three key publications are required.
