Mitsui Chemicals is very proud of its achievements of having always played a leading role in the development of catalysts, especially for the polymerization of olefins.

Positioning catalysis science as a critically important next-generation technology, in April 2002, Mitsui Chemicals established a new research organization called the Catalysis Science Laboratory (CSL) within its Research Center in Sodegaura across the bay from Tokyo.

In order to commemorate the opening of CSL, we are pleased to announce that we have decided to host a professional forum called the "Mitsui Chemicals International Symposium on Catalysis Science" with participation by world-renowned speakers, in March 2003. For the first Symposium, the program will be forcused on "Advanced Catalysts for Polymers."

We sincerely hope that a concept and direction of catalysts for a new age would emerge from the Symposium through active exchanges of ideas as well as personal interfacing among the speakers and a large number of participants.
