Impact of Tohoku-Kanto Earthquake on Operations (#2)

The Mitsui Chemicals Group reports the following effects of the Tohoku-Kanto Earthquake of March 11, 2011 on its operations.

The Group reports no casualties or injuries at its operations within the earthquake affected area.

1. Operations

a. Kashima Works (Kamisu City, Ibaraki Prefecture)

  • Operations will be resumed after assessment of damage by the earthquake and tsunami.

b. Ichihara Works (Ichihara City, Chiba Prefecture)

  • Operations at Mitsui DuPont Polychemicals and Chiba Phenol plants which were suspended since the earthquake have been resumed.

c. Mobara Branch Factory (Mobara City, Chiba Prefecture)

  • Operations at all plants which were suspended since the earthquake have been resumed at most plants taking into consideration effects of the scheduled “rolling” blackout.

2. Operations at Subsidiaries/Affiliates

Operations have been suspended at the following subsidiary/affiliate production and logistic facilities. Operations will be resumed following assessment of damage. Dates are undetermined at this point in time.

a. Mitsui Chemicals Tohcello, Inc.

  • Katsuta Works (Hitachinaka City, Ibaraki Prefecture)
  • Koga Works (Koga City, Ibaraki Prefecture)
  • Ibaraki Works (Koga City, Ibaraki Prefecture)
  • Tohcello Logistics Co., Ltd. (Nogi City, Tochigi Prefecture)

b. Mitsui Chemicals Agro, Inc.

  • Funaoka Works (Shibata Town, Shibata District, Miyagi Prefecture)

c. Chiba Polyol Corporation

  • Chiba Works (Ichihara City, Chiba Prefecture)
