Japanese Mitsui Chemicals Presented RC Merit Award by Chinese Association of International Chemical Manufacturers

Mitsui Chemicals Inc. (Location: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Tsutomu Tannowa) announced that the Company received the RC Merit Award from the Association of International Chemical Manufacturers (hereinafter, “AICM”) in China on June 19 in recognition of its activities promoting Responsible Care® (hereinafter, “RC”) in the country. The Company received the award for the second time, following the first one it received in 2015.

Mitsui Chemicals Group has been expanding RC activities to its group companies in Japan and abroad.
In China, it has been carrying out the activities to ensure the preservation of the environment, safety, and health, and to facilitate continuous dialogues and communication with society.

The award was granted because AICM highly evaluated the contributions made by Mitsui Chemicals Inc. on a group-wide basis to the sustainable development of the Chinese chemical industry and society, such as the submission of reports on the KPI results pertaining to RC of group companies in China, the evaluation of activities through voluntary audits such as internal control programs and quality assurance, among other efforts, the implementation of Safety, Health and the Environment (SHE) meetings, the acquisition of an environmental assessment loan from Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (China) Limited, the holding of workshops on chemical experiments for the families of employees, and the sponsoring of chemical engineering design contests for Chinese university students.

The Mitsui Chemicals Group will continue to strengthen its efforts to resolve social issues to improve the quality of life of people around the world through it social contribution and responsible care activities.
