The G20 Niigata Agriculture Ministers’ Meeting was one of the ministerial meetings held in relation to Japan's presidency of the G20 Summit in Osaka in June 2019. Set to host G20 members along with numerous VIPs from other invited countries and international organizations, the event served as a showcasing of Japan's endeavors in areas such as advanced agricultural technology, food culture and food value chains. Among such exhibition themes, the Mitsui Chemicals Group showcased Do Green™ in relation to its efforts to achieve SDGs.

Developed under Mitsui Chemicals’ Do Green™ line of plant-derived products, Do Green™ MR-174™ is the world’s first high-refractive-index lens material for vision correction to be plant-derived, allowing for CO2 emissions to be cut by roughly 14 percent when compared to conventional lenses*1. This material has received biomass product certification from JORA*2 and USDA*3, and provides the same level of material quality as conventional petroleum-derived lens materials.

With commitment to advancing triple bottom line (economic, environmental, and social) management and to integrating the elements of ESG into its management and business strategies, the Mitsui Chemicals Group is focused on achieving sustainable development.
